Trip to Portland

Wooden Shoe Tulip Garden

Ayden trying to figure out what is really going on.

HA HA HA!!! Don't even ask!!
No matter what, Larkin or Lafky... he's gonna have big feet!

We took a trip to Portland this week to visit the fam and we had a great time!  Aly went a few days before me because I had to stay and go to school and work, AKA snowboard.  It was SOOO nice to finally be back with my family!  I swear Ayden grew two sizes in the four days I didn't see him, at least his head did.  It's like an orange on a toothpick...  Anyway, here are a few pix from the first part of our trip (put together on our new Mac!!!!!).

ALL SMILES

Ayden blessed us with his first smiles this week. The first smile was on Wednesday morning after a long sleepless night. After he smiled for us, we completely forgot about our long night. It melts my heart everytime. Andrew and I love him so much!

My friend Jessica and our babies at Shevlin Park!

Wow, what a month and a half!!! This is Alyson here, writing my first blog. Sorry it has taken me so long to write but as you can imagine I have been busy! I am so overjoyed and excited that Ayden is here and that he is the most amazing baby. Last month it started with my last baby shower thrown by a wonderful friend here in Bend and two days later I was in labor. I did it! I had a hard but wonderful labor with NO drugs or chemical intervention. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. It was amazing and has empowered me as a women. I am so glad that I could bring Ayden into this world naturally and spiritually. I feel like that is a great gift for me to give to him and myself. I can't believe that it has been six weeks. He is already growing so fast. I cherish every moment I have with him!

Andrew has been nothing but AMAZING! I knew he would be a great partner and father but he really has amazed me. He supports and helps me in every way. How did I get so lucky? He is so good with Ayden and I know that he will continue to be a great father. My family has also been amazing this past month. My wonderful mother has been out to visit and help us almost every weekend and we LOVE it. She has been a great help and wonderful grandma. I don't know what I would have done without her. We have received so much love, support, and gifts from so many family members and friends this past month and we want to thank EVERYONE for everything you have done for us!
Keep on checking this website. We try to get a new post and pictures up every week!

One Month Old!!

Look ma, I can hold my head up!

Bright Blue Eyes...

A pretty lady and a handsome boy...

FLOP!!

We have survived our first month!! It all went by so fast. Ayden is doing well, but he isn't liking the whole sleep idea. It seems his sleeping patterns change every 48 hrs. He will sleep most the night for a couple nights while taking one or two small naps in the day, then the complete opposite. I think it all caught up with him today. He was definitely tired, and you could see he needed to go to sleep, but he wouldn't! For some reason he wanted so badly to be awake. I think he cried harder and longer than we have seen yet, but eventually he calmed down and finally closed his eyes. Besides the sleep issue (or lack there of) everything else is going well. Aly and I started school this week, and I also started a new job. It has been kind of chaotic, but we are managing pretty well. Alyson is an awesome mom, and has been staying very upbeat and positive even though two days a week she is at home with Ayden all day, ALONE!, while I am at work and school. This is one of the many things that we are just getting used to. All in all, things are great! Here's a few pics until next time....
